All swagger is different in the new generation in the Bay. As far as what we rap about, our style, the way we dress. It’s a new sound, a new wave, it’s a new movement, and I feel that I’m one of the front runners of this new Bay shit.

The unknowing is scary; the awareness is positive. At least you will gain focus on what is going on now. Whether you take heed to that or not it is on you. This shit is going a lot deeper than just Rap, even though I still do my thing all laid back Po’ Pimpin style.

RBL was the back bone of Hunters Point and everybody that came out after that was through our pipeline. We had from the TC, the 11-5, UDI, Cold World Hustlers, all them. They was all part of that TC garage group, the RBL scene. The game tore up over there. We lost our support system. A lot of the turfs split up.

I was growing up in the time of the child murders and we had a six o’clock curfew and everything when I was coming up. We were watching out for Wayne Williams and people came to the schools giving out whistles we had to wear around our neck.

I feel like I got a lot of selfish fans. That’s how underground fans are when you’re a big staple artist. They want you to stay raw. They want you to blow up, but the minute you start getting commercial success then people start looking at it like “Awww man!”.

When I did that Lil’ Jon “Shawty Freak a Lil Sumtin’” and like two or three more songs on that album, that’s when my name started getting back into the system again. I decided then that every quarter I wanted to have something on the radio. I ran into T.I. My homeboy from the neighborhood introduced us.

People that don’t even listen to Rap music like to listen to my music. Ever since they heard Haji they like to listen to the Hyphy music. I bring world music into my shit. All my songs are not Hyphy. But when it’s time to get Hyphy I go real stupid.

The Indians used them to broaden their minds and go to the dream land and the spirit world. I do believe mushrooms open up a place in your brain that is not normally used. I can’t say exactly how it effects my music, but my brain is open to think other things that maybe I wouldn’t think.

We grew up together. We got the chemistry working back like it used to be, so it’s not like we’re just throwing something together. This has been thought out for years.  It’s gonna be real music over the top of some real beats, with the guitars and stuff like that.

Hyphy is a style. Like Hip Hop—you dress Hip Hop, your lifestyle is Hip Hop. Hyphy is a style of dreads, Hyphy is a style of music, it’s a way of life too. What they do is they threw the name Hyphy on it, but it’s been goin on for years already.

It’s sayin the everything ain’t picture perfect. It’s tellin how we get so caught up and engulfed in status and monetary possessions that we don’t even see the big picture.  It’s people to this day that still don’t understand that power is in numbers. They’re still selfish. A lot of people miss the boat every day.
