You recently signed a record deal?
We just closed the deal. Actually I talked to my manager last night and he doesn’t want to say the label because we haven’t gone to New York yet to handle the real, real business, but everything is solidified. Everythang is gravy, it’s a go. I am officially signed to a major label.
Can you talk about the numbers? You’re close to being a millionaire?
Fa sho! It’s between $800,000 and a million.
What do you think put you over the top as far as getting you this deal?
Actually my grind I think is what took me to the next level. Just being in the streets, hittin the streets, doing all my DJ drops. Doing all my radio interviews. Doing my freestyles. Killing the mix CD’s. Being on the scene. Everywhere it was to be that got something to do with music I was there.
When is the album scheduled to be released?
I’m thinking the album is gonna be scheduled for release in the Spring. We gonna do it big on promotions and marketing. We gonna shoot the video first and just do it the right way. We ain’t gonna really rush it. We’re just gonna expand the buzz I already got to a national market.
Where are you thinking about shooting the video at?
We’re gonna do it in two places. In the hood in Panama City, you know, we call it the Bangin’ Bay, and the other half in Atlanta, due to the fact Pastor Troy on the album and the other cats I’m affiliated with like the Jazze Pha’s and the David Banners, my boy Young Jeezy.
Are you doing “My Block Burn” as your single?
Fa sho, fa sho!
What’s next for you since you finally signed after so many years?
What’s next is so more heat. Basically, I’m about to show the world why my name is BloodRaw and why the label really believed in me, and why my BDS went up like it was. I got crazy street credibility. I’m just finna show why I was given the bread and prove to the world I’m that next nigga.
For you, the underground and independent market has been real good. How do you think Murder Dog and other independent magazines and the mixtapes helped you compared to radio and other traditional outlets?
That’s what’s so lovely about the magazines like Murder Dog, Ozone, and the mixtapes -- it’s all a process; you have to go through those markets before you reach mainstream or the radio. If you don’t go through them markets first and just go straight to radio, I don’t think your career is going to last too long because it’s going to be mainstream. In order to survive or last long in this industry, I honestly feel like you have to have the streets on your side.
